"In spite of its dark unearthings Stieg Larsson has written a feat of a book, with central characters you will not forget" Michael Ondaatje.
Crusading author and liberal journalist Stieg Larsson died after delivering to his Swedish publisher the novels that are the Millennium Trilogy. Tragically, he did not live to enjoy the phenomenon that his work has become.

Version francaise contre version anglaise
A SPECTACULAR STORY BY A REMARKABLE WRITER
A book this fine deserves the best of narrators, and that is exactly what has been found in award winning actor Simon Vance. A former BBC Radio presenter and newsreader he has a powerful voice. I don't mean at strident but sure, strong, concise. He's been recognized in the audiobook field with an Audie Award and a number of Earphones awards from AudioFile magazine. His resonant tone sets the proper scene for the second in Stieg Larsson's "Millennium" trilogy.
As in the first, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, we meet crusading journalist Mikael Blomkvist who heads Millennium magazine and Lisbeth Salander. She is one of the most unique characters to appear between the covers of a book. Young, resolute, computer obsessed, tattooed, of course, and pierced, she's incredibly bright and now in a great deal of trouble.
The focus this time is not on business but Sweden's sex trade. Two investigative journalists who were looking into this ugliness were murdered shortly before the publication of their revelatory articles in Blomkvist's magazine. It seems only too obvious to him that the killings are tied into the investigations. Problem is Salander is implicated pretty seriously - her fingerprints are found on a weapon near the crime scene. In rapid succession a third death occurs and Salander disappears.
What follows is outrage and a dogged hunt for Salander with police, gangsters, and the media nipping at her heels. Question is whether or not Blomkvist should continue to have confidence in her, a woman he once trusted.
It's our great loss that author Larsson suddenly died at the age of 50. His work is estimable, for this listener/reader unparalleled in crime fiction. While we cannot ask for more (the third book in the trilogy will be published), we can appreciate what we have. Enjoy.
